Opting out

An eligible employee can choose to opt out of the scheme if they decide they don't want to pay into their pension. The ability to opt out is only available after the employee has been assessed and they have achieved active membership.

The employer is not allowed to encourage an employee to opt out.

If the employee opts out within the opt out window and contributions have been calculated but not deducted then no money will be invested into their fund.

If the member wishes to leave the scheme after the opt out window then the employee can choose to cease membership and any past contributions will remain in the fund.

Employees wishing to opt out can do so by visiting their Profile Details in their account and selecting the opt out button within the Manage Membership section. We strongly recommend you take time to consider this as by opting out your employer will also not pay into your scheme for you.

Opting in

Employees that have been assessed as non-eligible or entitled can choose to opt in to the scheme. Additionally, employees that have had their assessment date postponed can choose to opt in.

Non-eligible employees Employees that have been assessed as 'non-eligible' and choose to opt in can be added to the scheme and the employer will pay employer contributions for that employee.

Entitled employees Employees that have been assessed as 'entitled' and choose to opt can also be added to the scheme but the employer can decide if they wish to pay employer contributions.

Employees that choose to opt in will be able to contribute as of the next available pay period. i.e. if you are paid monthly and you opt in during January you can contribute as of the February pay period. 

Employees wishing to opt in can do so by visiting their Profile Details in their account and selecting the opt in button within the Manage Membership section. 

Ceasing membership

Employees that decide to leave the scheme after their opt out window have the option to cease membership. All paid contributions to date remain in the fund for that employee. 

Employees wishing to cease membership can do so by visiting their Profile Details in their account and selecting the cease membership button within the Manage Membership section.

Re-joining

Should an employee that has left the scheme decide to begin contributing to their pension once more they can do so by 're-joining'.

Employees wishing to re-join can do so by visiting their Profile Details in their account and selecting the re-join button within the Manage Membership section.
