Choosing your re-enrolment date is the first step of the re-enrolment process.
First re-enrolment date
The re-enolment date for a company can be any date that falls within a six-month window, starting three months before the third anniversary of their original staging date and ending three months from that anniversary.
Employer A has a staging date of 1 April 2014. Their first re-enrolment window is 1 January 2017 to 30 June 2017.
Align the Re-enrolment date with your payroll period
Since the re-enrolment date can be chosen by the employer within a six-month window, it might be helpful to align this date with the start of a payroll period.
Successive Re-enrolment dates
Re-enrolment is a cyclical process. After the first re-enrolment process, the next one will have a six-month window based on the last re-enrolment date.
This means that all successive Re-enrolment processes will have a six-month window starting three months before the third anniversary of the last re-enrolment date and ending three months from that anniversary.
Employer A has a staging date of 1 April 2014. They set their first re-enrolment date on 1 May 2017.
Their next re-enrolment window is 1 February 2020 to 31 July 2020.
Please note: Postponement is not available for re-enrolment.
